First, I have to apologize about the quality of the photograph. This is what happens when you forget to take your camera to an important event and are forced to take pictures with your cell phone. But who cares? Ashlyn won her school spelling bee this January as a 4th grader. This was the most nervous and scared I have ever seen her. She told me later she thought she was going to puke. Her face was pale, but she performed under pressure. She was competing against 5th and 6th graders. She beat them all--which only supports the theory she has her mother's intelligence. She was smiling and her mother was wiping away the tears. Next month she will be competing against 7th and 8th graders to see who will qualify for the county and then the national spelling bee. We are all really happy that she did well, and we hope she does well in the next round.
